Health authorities in the US have warned consumers about the “dangerous” vitamin C in sunscreen products.
Key points: The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has said it will start a new campaign to warn about the vitamin C content of sunscreen products The FDA said it would launch a campaign called Vitamin C in Sunscreen that will run until May 20th, 2018, and will include educational campaigns, a website and online video advertising.
The agency said the campaign would target consumers who use sunscreen at least once a month, but did not elaborate on how often.
It said sunscreen could contain high levels of the vitamin, which can cause skin cancer and other conditions.
“The FDA will conduct a public education campaign to inform the public about the potential risks of Vitamin C from sunscreen and other sunscreens, including those containing a higher concentration of Vitamin D3, which is also present in sunscreen formulations,” the agency said in a statement.
Vitamin C is found in sunscreen creams, lotions and sunscopes, and is used to prevent skin cancer.
FDA guidance said the agency would begin a campaign to educate consumers about Vitamin C content in sunscreen on May 20, 2018.
This will be the first time the agency has undertaken such a campaign.
In recent years, it has warned about the dangers of excessive vitamin C consumption and urged people to limit their use of sunscreen.
On its website, the agency recommends consumers avoid excessive amounts of Vitamin A, a fatty acid that is used in sunscowers, as well as the Vitamin D in sunblock products, as these have also been linked to skin cancer in some studies.
Many cosmetics contain Vitamin C, as do some skin care products and even some prescription medications.
However, the FDA said there was no evidence to suggest that excessive consumption of Vitamin E or other Vitamin C was responsible for the increase in the risk of skin cancer that occurred over the last two decades.
“While there is no scientific evidence that Vitamin C is responsible for any increased risk of sunburn, the current data does not support the use of Vitamin K2 as an alternative to Vitamin C,” the FDA’s statement said.
Sunscreens containing Vitamin C can contain as much as three times more vitamin C as the level found in the skin of most people, the statement said, adding that it recommended sunscreen products should only contain a maximum of 4mg of Vitamin G per application.
There are no approved treatments for sunburn.
Despite this, vitamin C is still a common ingredient in suncreams, facial scrubs and cosmetics, and many consumers are aware of the risk it can pose to their skin.
As a result, in some countries, such as the UK and US, a vitamin C supplement called Vitamin D 3 is widely available.
Its use is controversial in some circles, however, and the FDA has warned against people who take the supplement as it could increase the risk that they will develop skin cancer, including melanoma.
While Vitamin C may be a good source of Vitamin B12, its lack of absorption can make it unsuitable for some people, particularly if they do not consume enough Vitamin D.
The agency did not specify when it would start the Vitamin C campaign, but said the time was right for it to make its message clear to the public.
A statement from the FDA says that the campaign will include informational content, educational campaigns and a website.
