A skin care product might be the most popular alternative to the usual skincare products, but a new study shows the products can actually boost your overall health.
The researchers, who presented their findings at the American Society for Dermatology Annual Meeting, found that people who took two of the most common skin care products a year saw an average of 7.4% more vitamin A, 5.5% more iron, and 1.5%-3% more zinc than people who never took them.
The benefits are particularly notable given that most people who are at risk for vitamin A deficiency, or vitamin A poisoning, aren’t getting enough of the mineral, according to the American Dermatological Association.
Vitamin A deficiency is caused by a deficiency in the body’s vitamin A-binding protein, or VABP, which is made in the skin and also in the brain.
Without enough vitamin A to properly absorb it, the body can’t make enough of vitamin A and the body becomes less sensitive to sunlight.
“Vitamin C deficiency is a big concern for people who have difficulty absorbing vitamin A,” said Dr. John Schulman, a dermatologist and professor at the University of Michigan.
“In people who don’t get enough vitamin C, the skin becomes more vulnerable to sun damage.”
In the study, the researchers looked at the levels of vitamin C in the eyes of 1,096 men and women over a six-month period.
The researchers used a vitamin C-soluble dye to measure the levels, and then divided the men and the women into groups.
Men with the highest vitamin C levels were given the most vitamin C to improve their vitamin A levels.
Women who took vitamin C supplements also had significantly higher levels of the vitamin in their eyes, but the women who didn’t took supplements had significantly lower levels.
The vitamin C group also had higher levels in their bones, while the women taking vitamin C did not.
In a second study, Schulmen looked at levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D, which comes from the sun, in the blood of 4,095 people.
The men and men who took a vitamin D supplement had lower levels of this vitamin in the bloodstream than people taking a vitamin B-6 supplement.
The women on vitamin D supplements also didn’t have as high levels of 24-hydroxylase in their blood, which indicates a decrease in the production of the hormone that breaks down vitamin D.
People who take vitamin D also have higher levels that are associated with a lower risk of heart disease.
People taking vitamin D and vitamin B6 have lower levels in the liver and higher levels associated with the development of colorectal cancer.
Schulmans’ study found that a combination of vitamin D, vitamin B12 and vitamin D3 is associated with lower risk.
People on vitamin E also had lower risks of developing high blood pressure, stroke, and Alzheimer’s disease.
The results showed that the combination of a vitamin A supplement and vitamin E supplementation increased levels of D, B12, and the vitamin E3 in people with elevated blood pressure.
“I would not recommend that you take a vitamin supplement just to get vitamin A or that you should use vitamin E to get the D you need,” Schulmann said.
“Vitamin D is really important for the body.”

What to know if you’re at risk: The Zika vaccine has a slightly different safety profile than the vaccine that was developed in the early 1990s, and it’s not always safe for pregnant women or people who take certain medications.
Zika also is spread by the same mosquitoes that carry the virus, so if you have symptoms of Zika before the vaccine, they might not be detected until the second wave of infection.
